Classroom News - Year 4

Year 4

Year 4 are continuing to work hard on classroom expectations and processes. Our Religion unit has changed to Lent: A Time to Make Choices. We are learning to reflect on our lives and try to grow closer to God. The children enjoyed Shrove Tuesday and our Ash Wednesday celebration.

Year 4 are beginning our Big Write today. Our session will begin with a revision of our VCOP focus and a review of the talk homework the children had last night.  Parents are asked to discuss the topic with the children, mainly to support them to organise their own ideas. During preparation time the students will have the opportunity to share their ideas with their peers. The students will be given planning time, writing time and editing time. The process provides the children with a great scaffold to prepare and perfect their own writing.

We have begun to discuss 'Time' in Maths. We discuss analogue and digital time, as well as time-tabling and time lapses.

Our History unit has started this week. We investigate early exploration, why and how Australia was discovered.

We have enjoyed meeting our Year 1 Buddies. We enjoyed visiting their classroom and we were able to share our Ash Wednesday Mass together last week.
