Principal's Message

God made us a family

We need one another

We love one another

We forgive one another

We work together

We play together

We worship together

Together we use God’s word

Together we grow

In Christ

Together we love all men

Together we serve our God

Together we hope

For Heaven

These are

Our hopes and ideals

Help us to attain them,

O God, through Jesus Christ Our Lord.

This week we begin our Term III Student, Parent, Teacher Interviews. These are especially important as they will be a check on how well each student is developing the gifts and talents with which he or she has been blessed. They will also be an opportunity to check whether or not the most is being made of the learning opportunities provided at this College.

It is vitally important that each and every student acknowledges his or her responsibility to be an active participant in his/her learning. Listening in class is an active not a passive thing. What is the teacher trying to communicate? What am I expected to know out of this? How can I apply to the work I have been set? Homework needs to be submitted on time. Homework research opens up new ideas of thought about the material being presented. Drill type homework reinforces skills that have been developed so that they can be built on to accomplish more complex tasks.

Each and every student needs to make the most of every opportunity that they are provided with. The staff members here at St. Joseph’s College are committed to the development of each and every child. The Student, Parent, Teacher  interviews will be an opportunity for families to discuss how well each student is travelling at this point in time.

The strength of the partnerships between parents, students and staff at our College is one of our greatest strengths. By working so closely together we are achieving wonderful things with and for the students in our care.

There has been much happening this term and everyone deserves a restful and relaxing holiday so that we return ready to finish the 2017 Academic year in the best possible way. Please keep our Year 12 students in particular, in mind as they prepare for the end of their school days and the next phase of their life’s journey.

God Bless
