Aboriginal Learning & Engagement Centre

We are excited to welcome Carol Green to our ASC team, where she will lead our newly created Aboriginal Learning and Engagement Centre (ALEC). 

Ms Green is joined by Susan Hoddinott (Deputy Principal); Alicia Webb (Teacher); Tash Griffiths and Leonie Donovan (Aboriginal Education Officers); and Skye Gordon-Briggs and Steven Ford (School Learning Support Officers). 

Carol and her team will be working to build strong relationships with all families of ATSI students, by encouraging parents to come into the school and work together to engage in their child's education. We are fortunate to already have healthy existing relationships with many families, but also look forward to extending our connections to the wider community.

ALEC has been established under an initiative of the NSW Premier's Office. One of the specific goals of the 3-year programme is to support our current Year 9 ATSI students over this period, all the way through to successfully completing their HSC in 2023. However, the team also emphasises its broad role in promoting the success of all ATSI students across all stages, as well as assisting teachers in embedding Aboriginal content within the curriculum.
