Stage 5

Stage 5 Update

Welcome back to all our Year 9 and 10 students! We would like to thank everyone associated with Stage 5 for their patience and resilience during this difficult term as we have transitioned back from learning-at-home to full school participation.

I would specially like to thank our parents, teachers and support staff for their efforts in supporting our students during the last couple of months. Their contributions have included wrestling with the technology for our students to access their learning through Google Classroom and/or making the effort to pick up student work from school. It has been a challenging time; but out of adversity has come some positive learning experiences for all! Together we have become familiar with the benefits and challenges of working with platforms like Zoom, as well as some of the new possibilities in learning through different technologies.

Year 9 and 10 have eased back into school and many students have welcomed the opportunity to engage face-to-face with their teachers and meet with their friends again.

Year 10 teaching programs have fully resumed. Students continue to complete their assignment work as they progress towards their Record of School Achievement (RoSA) at the end of the year. If your student is having trouble with any assignments please let their teacher know or call myself or Ms Munday. We can organise support for your child to complete tasks.

Year 10 have also been successfully completing the HSC Minimum Standards tests during the last couple of weeks as part of the requirements for their HSC certificate.

Year 10 are currently preparing to make their subject selections for Year 11 in 2021. They are doing this through their Google Classroom with their Careers teacher, Mrs Hardman. They will need to complete Tasks 1-7 and make their initial subject choice by the end of this term. If parents have any questions about the tasks or subjects for next year please contact the school.

Year 9 are now well into their project-based elective subjects. We are hoping at some point in Term 3 to showcase some of the work students have been doing.  This will be subject to restrictions being eased on assemblies and visitors at school.

Uniform

Despite the cooler weather, it is still important that students are coming to school in their uniforms. It's a good idea to 'layer-up' by wearing long-sleeve T-shirts and singlets under the ASC hoodie.

Once again, a reminder that active-wear ie., leggings, are NOT part of the uniform. Students, however, are permitted to wear trackpants everyday ... so please leave the active-wear at home.
