Attendance
ASC is so pleased to be back at school for face-to-face learning! We remind our school community that students need to be at school all day, every day. Full school attendance is necessary for continual learning.
Please let us know if you are having difficulty re-engaging your student with school. You should contact the school as soon as possible to discuss the issue and ask for help.
Strategies to help improve attendance may include a referral to our Learning and Support team, or linking your child with appropriate support networks. The principal may seek further support from the Home School Liaison Program to develop an appropriate plan. Our Phone Intervention Officer may also contact home to help get your child back to full attendance.
Face-to-face learning updates
By now, families should have received the latest update from the Department in relation to school operations.
From Term 3 we will see more flexibility in what we are able to do during school hours; although unfortunately this will not extend to overnight excursions, assemblies longer than 15 minutes, or events that involve large groups of parents/community members on-site.
We will keep you updated regarding any further developments.
New Build
Midway during Term 1, the Year 11 Construction class attended a visit to the new school site, where staff from Richard Crookes Construction explained the nature and methods of installation of a variety of external cladding materials used on the building.
There have been a number of site visits this term for staff at ASC. These visits have been very exciting and staff are in awe of the new build.
A staged transition plan will see staff and students accessing the new school regularly between now and the end of the year. We anticipate the community will also be able to preview the school towards the end of Term 4.

Reports
Owing to the significant amount of time that students were learning from home during Semester 1, written reports will be presented in a simplified format to provide a general account of student learning and achievement. These 'Covid' reports will differ from those you are accustomed to receiving. Therefore, we encourage you to contact your child's teacher if you require further clarification.
We hope to return to our regular (more detailed) reports in Semester 2.
Loaned Devices
The school was able to loan out a considerable number of devices during the period of learning-from-home. It is critical that these devices are now returned for students to use in the school's classrooms.
If you are still in possession of a device, we ask that you return it to the library ASAP.
