Student Wellbeing Report

How To Stay Motivated In Our Current Climate
As our world goes through unprecedented times, with information and advice changing daily, one thing that has been constant, and very much welcomed in the past few weeks at PCW, is the understanding of our students and their positive school spirit. They have not complained about the need to cancel events, sporting competitions or excursions, and they have continued to support one another and remain dedicated to their learning.
We are now in our term break, which will be different from the usual school holidays. Students cannot do all of the things they would like to do, and this will be a challenge for our girls and families. For senior students schoolwork may actually be welcome, it will help them pass the time; and the more they prepare now, the more prepared they will feel come exam time. It is also really important to help all girls maintain a daily routine while indoors and encourage them to do something they enjoy every day. Some suggestions include:
- Try out a new recipe
- Stay connected with friends via social media, group chats and phone
- Read a book, blog or magazine
- Listen to music, make new playlists and discover new artists
- Play a family board game or an app such as ‘Heads Up’
- Have a pamper day with face masks and mani-pedis
- Do some DIY or craft projects around the house
- Exercise - this is so important for mental health
- Have a wardrobe clear out
- Students could FaceTime family members who they may not get the opportunity to speak to often
- Go for a walk with the dog or go to the park to get some fresh air, while ensuring to follow social distancing and Government guidelines.
Make time to listen to your daughter’s concerns about COVID-19 and reinforce the importance of hand and cough hygiene, staying indoors and social distancing, but do try to limit the amount of time they are exposed to the media. It is challenging, but try to help your daughters keep a positive mindset in these holidays. Without minimising the seriousness of what is going on, try to see this time indoors as valuable family time that may not have happened under different circumstances.
Remote Learning and Wellbeing
In the case of the College moving to remote learning after the Easter break or in the future, rest assured that we have a Strategic Wellbeing Plan in place ready to roll out to all students from day one. In addition to email, students and parents/guardians will have access to a dedicated PCW wellbeing phone line, as continuity of care and support for our PCW students is always of paramount important to the College. More information about this will be sent out via email in the case of remote learning.
Stay safe and take care.
