Pedagogy & Innovation Report

It has been a busy few weeks at Presentation College, particularly as both staff and students have been preparing for the possibility of remote learning.  We are experiencing uncertain times, but we must navigate this uncertainty together, and in doing so, knowing that the College has been forthright in its preparation for this possibility.

We have been working with staff to utilise the online conferencing software, Google Meet, which will allow staff to run online classrooms, connect with students and teach them the key content they need to know.  This software allows teachers and students to connect face to face with a digital device.  Working in tandem with Google Classroom, teachers will be able to place instructions and activities with links to websites and video clips.  This platform also allows students to submit work for teacher feedback.

Our students have been incredibly adaptable and agile, allowing teachers to test this software in class.  I would like to commend everyone for their resilience during this challenging time.  Student feedback has also been invaluable, determining what worked and what needed altering to best support student learning.  I also want to acknowledge the kindness and compassion that students have shown one another.  In the event that we move to remote learning, this collaborative approach will be needed more than ever for each student to be their best self.

In the event of a remote learning scenario, teachers will run lessons according to the timetable, as they would any other day.  I encourage parents and guardians to read the Guidelines for Remote Learning and the Child Safety Protocols so we can continue working with you in partnership to provide the best education that we can.
