ThinkUKnow Cyber Safety Presentation

Last Monday night Grade 3-6 parents attended a very informative cyber safety information session that highlighted the benefits and pitfalls of social media, gaming and sexting and grooming.  There were some big take aways including:

 - If you think you know what your child is doing online, you are wrong

- Your child will at some point send a photo, write a message that they  regret.  They will get stuck and not know what to do.

- Starting conversations with your child now about the benefits and pitfalls, including what to do when it happens and who to talk to when something goes wrong

- that the technology is not the problem, it is the users that cause the problems.

If you missed the evening and would like a copy of the booklet presented to families they are available for you to pick up at the office.

ICT Agreements

Last week the ICT Agreements were sent home with each student.  These Agreements have been discussed with your child in their classroom and are now ready to be signed and returned to school.  Once this form is returned to school then your child will have access to the digital tools used at school.  It is important to know that the children are not on technology the whole time they are at school.  Lessons, activities and researching are all timetabled sessions planned by the classroom teacher.  Please discuss any concerns you may have about these Agreements with your child's classroom teacher.
