Semester One Learning Conversations

The end of the first semester is fast approaching and the students are to be congratulated on all of their hard work over the last two terms. Teachers have been busily preparing the Semester One Reports which will be made available to parents via the Compass app on Friday 11th June. Please contact the school office if you do not have access to the Parent Portal on Compass and they will be able to assist you in setting this up.

In Weeks 9 and 10, parents are also invited to attend a Learning Conversation with their child's classroom teacher/s. This will be an opportunity to discuss any areas of learning from the report, as well as looking at some work samples that your child has produced during Semester One and discuss learning goals for Semester Two. Students are encouraged to attend these meetings to discuss their learning with their parents and teacher.

To book a Learning Conversation appointment with your child's teacher, please log into the Compass app on your device, click the hamburger menu button at the top left (three horizontal bars) and then select 'Conferences' from the menu that slides open. From there you will be able to view the Learning Conversation bookings, select your child/ren, select their teacher/s, and choose a timeslot that is suitable. You will be asked to confirm the booking at this point. Please contact the school office if you are having any difficulties in booking a Learning Conversation appointment. Bookings will open on Friday 4th June (tomorrow) at 1.00pm and will close on Friday 11th June at 3.00pm.

Please note: due to teacher absence, parents of students in 6G and 6S will have Learning Conversations in Weeks 2 and 3 of Term 3. A separate booking cycle will be opened for this at the beginning of Term 3.

Parent Learning Walks and Talks

As was mentioned in the newsletter last week, the school has begun to undertake Parent Learning Walks and Talks through our classrooms. This opportunity is open to all parents and family members and the school would warmly welcome the excuse to share the wonderful things that are happening in our classrooms! Today we welcomed Mrs Emily Press and Mrs Emma White into our classrooms. We were also lucky to be joined by Mr Jason Hanrahan (CSO School Performance Leader). If you are interested in joining us for a Learning Walk, please complete the attached form to organise a time that would be suitable.

Year 5 Big Write Success

Year 5 were given the task to write a persuasive text to convince Dr Jake to buy/get something to support the students at our school. Mia and Anika chose to write their persuasive texts on two very different topics. Anika believes that St Ed's would benefit from installing a running track because children need to be active, fit and healthy. Mia's persuasive text aims to sway Dr Jake to believe that a school pet would be a great choice to support children with their learning and give them more opportunities to demonstrate reponsibility. Below is a photo of both Anika and Mia with their great writing pieces. Congratulations girls!
