We are proud to announce that Brunswick Secondary College has been selected to take part in Regional Arts Victoria’s Creative Workers in Schools program!

The school will be working with Lily Fish, a fantastic performer and theatre-maker, who will work at BSC over Terms 2 and 3 in 2021. The program comes in response to the COVID-19 pandemic,  and seeks to provide work to people who lost most of their opportunities to work in 2020.

Lily is working across a number of areas of the Performing Arts programs, and will be devising performance work with Year 9 and 10 Drama students, CCPs, and the VCE Drama students, among other things.  This is a fantastic opportunity for Brunswick Secondary College, and our students to continue to develop their skills and passion for Drama and performance with a working artist.

About the Program:

Creative Workers in Schools is supporting 150 creative workers to undertake a six-month paid residency in a Victorian government schools. During the residency, the creative worker will receive training and mentorship and will work with teachers and students to design and deliver a creative project that will support learning across the Victorian Curriculum from Foundation to Year 10. The Creative Workers in Schools program is delivered by Regional Arts Victoria, in partnership with Department of Education and Training, and Creative Victoria through the support of the Victorian Government’s Working for Victoria initiative.

Lily Fish - Artist in Residence

Hi I’m Lily.

I am a theatre maker and performer and I am going to be hanging around BSC over the next two terms as an Artist in Residence!

I make lots of different performance work for audiences of all ages, and most of it is about making people laugh. If you live in Brunswick East you might have even seen me and my housemates dressed up in pink lycra and fleuro wigs dancing on our front lawn during lockdown last year!

While I’m at BSC I’ll be working on a few different projects with Mr Roach and a whole range of students. I am very excited to see what we come up with together. If you see me around, come say hi, and  be on the lookout for performances happening  in Term 3!
