VCE Food Studies

Year 12

The Year 12 Food Studies students have gotten off to a delectably productive start to their academic year. In week two, they produced their own sterilised batches of kimchi, compliments of Mr Price’s recipe. This demonstrated the process of fermentation which contains probiotic lactobacillus. In week three, students produced aromatic Chicken sliders with soy and ginger glaze, served with their own freshly baked Milk buns and Asian slaw.

We are certainly road testing our new Study Design aligned Food Solutions textbook and adding a few of our own demonstrative embellishments. We have learned new terms such as microbiota and ghrelin. The students were slightly aghast when they saw a firsthand video recount of faecal microbiota transplant (FMT) and its important link to gut and mental health. The Reservoir Food team welcomes new teaching staff Ms Robyn Elliott and assistant Ms Liz Harris to the food fold.

Happy cooking and culinary experimenting!
