Special Achievements

It was a wonderful week for students at RNPS, with some great performances both in and out of school. Head to the 'From the Classrooms' page to find out about the wonderful achievements of Mila Murphy and Mali Lane from Year 2 and to read about the experience of those who represented our school at the Friendship Carnival at Eastland last Thursday night.

I would also like to extend my congratulations to Isla Sleigh for achieving her Grey Wolf badge in cub scouts - the highest achievement available at that level and a special milestone for those who participate. Isla may be sharing further with us in the coming weeks about how she achieved this.

It was wonderful to be present at the Friendship Carnival at Eastland, where a number of Maroondah schools ran activities related to friendship and fun before participating in the Parent-Child Language of Friendship with Dana from URStrong. Our students (Evie Candler, Gemma Ikstrums, Cameron Newnham and James Campbell) were wonderful representatives for the school and did a fantastic job at supporting younger children to engage in the activities. It's so special to see Maroondah City Council collaborate with schools and community organisations to promote positive friendships, healthy relationships and open communication as a way for children to build healthier, stronger support networks.

We know that our modern social conditions have created greater distance between people and decreased people's connections to each other. Loneliness is a key contributor to depression and other mental health conditions, leading to depleted physical health and higher levels of stress and anxiety, which then impact children's learning. It is encouraging and uplifting to see so many from our community coming together with an understanding that we need to address this issue. It is only through collaboration with those immediately around us that we can hope to build stronger communities that are welcoming and supportive for everyone. I wish also to thank Jono Trend and Teresa Smith for supporting the children on the night and working closely with Dana on our upcoming URStrong workshops for children.

I would also like to congratulate the many students who auditioned for parts in the upcoming production. Today, they were each informed of their roles and there were lots of hugs and cheers and excited faces. We are really excited to see what these students are able to produce on stage. There are some wonderful dramatists, comedians, singers and dancers who I know will do a sensational job in July.

Illness

In recent weeks the dreaded gastro bug has been in our community. A reminder please that if your child has experienced gastro symptoms, they must not attend school until at least 24 hours from the last symptom.  A copy of the Exclusion table for infectious diseases cases is attached for your information.
