Performing Arts
Welcome to Performing Arts!
This year in Performing Arts we are lucky to have two teachers delivering a new and exciting Drama, Dance and Music program at Aitken Hill Primary School.
Location:
Performing Arts Room 1 is located at the Golden Sun Centre (Gym)
Performing Arts Room 2 is located opposite the Italian Room Portable, outside of Performing Arts Room 1.
We encourage all students to please bring their water bottle to class.
Curriculum:
All year levels have been introduced to the Performing Arts routine, establishing community expectations and understanding what the subject is all about.
Junior (Year Prep - 2):
The junior students of the school have begun the term with learning about what makes a good audience member and good performer in Performing Arts. This includes explicitly teaching our school care values and participating in a range of dance, drama and music activities that explore having a positive mindset. Students have also been learning to sing a welcoming song that involves keeping a steady beat and following the rhythm of the music.
Senior (Year 3-6):
The senior students of the school have begun the term with creating freeze frames to act out the community expectations and school care values. These activities aim to develop drama skills including expression, confidence and creativity, as well as the ability to work as a team. Students have also been learning to sing the community expectations song based on their 'We will...' statements. This will be the introduction to every Performing Arts class and further aim to develop a positive growth mindset.
"We will listen to each other". "We will encourage one another".
We look forward to sharing many dance, drama and music performances at Assembly throughout the year!
