Career's Corner
Hi everyone. For those who don’t know me, I’m Carol Woodman and as well as being the VCE Coordinator at Wedderburn College, I am also the Career Practitioner. Our aim at the college is to provide an exciting and worthwhile Career Curriculum for all students from Foundation to Year 12. I am lucky to have Robyn Vella working with me and she is doing fantastic work getting placements for our VM students and helping the Year 10s decide on their Work Experience.
A lot has been happening in the first 3 weeks of term. Robyn has been busy locking in the placements for our VM students. They are all due to start on Wednesday 22nd February, so watch this space for updates for how our students are going.
CAP (Career Action Plan) meetings have begun for year 11 and 12. In these meetings, students have a chance to discuss future ambitions and research is done to look at courses and their requirements. It is also a chance to explore work experience and start having discussions about ATAR scores and entrance requirements.
It would be good to start having these discussions at home so that your student is encouraged to start to explore all possibilities.
We are starting to receive information about University Open Days. Please encourage your student to go to as many as possible as it will help them gain an understanding of the options out there for them.
Talk soon,
Carol Woodman
