Principals Message

Dear parents and carers,

We are enjoying  a great start to 2023. Already we have had a beautiful badge ceremony run by Year 6 students, a most successful swimming carnival and this week we presented the term One LWLW representatives with their badges.

Because we have very clear expectations and routines most children have settled in quickly and confidently. We have welcomed some new families and staff and they are quickly becoming familiar with St Xavier’s. If your child is still a bit nervous about being in a new class please make sure you talk to their teachers. We can provide some further support to help them through this period.

You might be aware that we have a Schools Advisory Council (SAC) who meet each term.

  • The Catholic School Advisory Council provides the opportunity for members of the school and parish community to support the mission of Catholic education in the school. Working with the Principal and the Parish Priest, the members of the Council and its committees provide guidance and support to the wider school community.

  • The Catholic School Advisory Council has an advisory role; it has no mirror in secular society. The policies of the school are always set within the mission of Catholic education. In areas where it has an advisory role in the development and monitoring of school policy, the Council operates within the policies and procedures determined by the CSO.

The School Advisory Council has responsibility to advise in the following areas:

  • The development of the Catholic identity, ethos and mission of the school.
  • The pastoral care strategies in the school community.
  • Promotion of the school in the local community.
  • Preparation and monitoring of the annual budget.
  • Ensuring compliance with the ACNC Regulations by school associations and committees such as the P&F.
  • The preparation and publication to the parish and school community of an Annual School Advisory Council Report.
  • Supporting opportunities for parent engagement in student learning.
  • The provision of opportunities for parents for social, community and parish interaction and for parents to form supportive networks.
  • Other matters as requested by the Principal or Parish Priest.

We currently have some places for parents who might be interested in becoming part of the SAC. Our next meeting is on Wednesday 1st March at 5.30pm. Please email if you are interested or would like to ask a question about the SAC. ( jhonner@arm.catholic.edu.au)

Or for a copy of the Constitution please contact the Office.

I would love to see some interest in this area to assist our dedicated group of parents who are currently members. Successful members will be chosen before the next meeting on March 1.

Kind regards,

Jen Honner
