Greetings White Gum Valley Primary School Community,
Welcome back to school! I trust you all had a good school holiday?
Sometimes it can be difficult for students get back into the swing of school after having a big break. It can be difficult for some students because their classrooms have changed, new teachers, and more expectations involving schoolwork. It can sometimes be a stressful and anxious time for both the student and their parents. It’s very important to have some positive self-coping tools and a self-care plan in place for yourself and your child during this period. “Coping mechanisms can help people adjust to stressful events while helping them maintain their emotional well-being.” – As stated by Good Therapy.
These coping skills can be in place for when the child starts school in the morning and when they finish school.
So, what are some self-care things that you could do to fill up your cup and the cup of your child? Whilst you ponder on what things you could do as a parent for yourself, I have listed a few ideas that you could do with your child. There are some worksheets and a poster that may give you some ideas for self-coping skills and for creating a self-care plan going into 2023.
Have a great week, from your Chappy!
This term we challenge you to crunch the rainbow for Crunch&Sip® by making a rainbow in your classroom. Eating different coloured fruits and vegetables provides lots of different vitamins, minerals, and phytochemicals. Which is why crunching on a rainbow will help kids get the right balance of nutrients they need for a healthy body.
