Dear parents, carers and families,

It seems summer wants to remind us that it is still around, therefore it was a timely reminder for students to ensure they are wearing hats, drinking lots of water and applying sunscreen. A friendly reminder to all families to include sunscreen in your child’s bag, as a school we have an opt out policy; some sunscreens could cause irritation, therefore it’s best that you supply the most suitable brand for your child.

Year 5/6 Camp

I had the pleasure of attending camp with the Year 5/6s this week. We went to CYC Adventure Camp on Phillip Island – it was one of the best camps I have been on in Australia. The facilities were modern and well kept, beds were comfy, food was delicious, the activities were plentiful, and the students were really well behaved. Can I say a special thanks to the parents, Katia, Matt and Arlene for attending – without parent volunteers we couldn’t run camps. Further thanks to the 5/6 team for all the organisation of the camp.

Starlight SuperSwim

Thank you to all students, parents and families that have provided words of encouragement, support and generous donations towards my swim for Starlight Charity. Special thanks to the anonymous person who donated $500, that has nearly propelled me to the goal of raising $2000. Thus far I have swum over 14km and raised $1,720, so again, thank you for all your support! The money will be donated to support sick children.

NAPLAN

NAPLAN is fast approaching; it begins on March 15th with Writing being the first assessment. As a school we are preparing our digital devices, preparing a timetable, and ensuring all staff have the resources to facilitate the exams. 

Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Student Support Group (SSGs)

Some of you will be contacted by your classroom teacher to begin the process of conducting IEPs and SSGs. We base the decisions of supplying an IEP on data, therefore if a student is 12 months ahead or behind the expected level, then we will write an IEP for them. SSGs are for those families that have gone through the Disability Inclusion Funding (DIP) Process.

As you can see, we have a plethora of acronyms in education and it can be difficult to keep track!

New Staff Member

On Monday we will welcome Mr David Preston as a new teacher at CJC. Mr Preston will be joining Mr Prevet in the Year 6 Binome. He has a wealth of knowledge, has a passion for technology and speaks French as a second language. We know that our whole community will make him feel welcome.

Auburn High School visits CJC

Today we had the pleasure to welcome Ross Pritchard, Acting Principal and Kristie Satilmis, Assistant Principal, both at Auburn High School. The object of this visit is to strengthen the transition between French-accredited primary and secondary schools, and to schedule regular meetings and visits between our two schools. A team from AHS will come to CJC to present recent changes to their binational program to our community.  Thank you to Joseph Chang, our School Council President for attending to this meeting.

Chers parents, gardiens et familles,

La chaleur estivale est toujours de la partie, ce qui nous rappelle l’importance de porter un chapeau, de boire beaucoup d’eau et d’appliquer de la protection solaire. Un petit rappel à toutes les familles d’inclure de la protection solaire dans le sac d’école de leur enfant.  À CJC, nous avons une politique de dérogation, certains produits pourraient causer une irritation, il est donc préférable que les familles fournissent la meilleur option pour leur enfant.

Camp d’école pour les CM2 et de 6ème

J’ai eu le plaisir de participer au camp des CM2 et 6ème cette semaine. Nous sommes allés au camp d’aventures CYC à Phillip Island - c’est l’un des meilleurs camps auquel j’ai participé en Australie. Les installations sont modernes et bien maintenues, les lits sont confortables, la nourriture est délicieuse et les activités sont nombreuses ; nos élèves se sont très bien comportés également ! Je tiens à remercier les parents d’élèves qui sont venus prêter main forte, Katia, Matt et Arlene, sans vous nous n’aurions pu réaliser ce camp. Merci également à toute l’équipe des CM2 et 6ème pour l’excellente organisation.

NAPLAN

Les évaluations NAPLAN (Programme d’évaluations nationales en Mathématiques et Lecture/Écriture) approchent à grands pas, elles débuteront le 15 mars prochain avec l’épreuve d’écriture. Nous préparons les appareils numériques, les horaires et nous nous assurons que les professeurs ont tout le matériel nécessaire pour réaliser ces évaluations. 

Les plans de soutien individuels pour les élèves (IEP) et groupes de soutien des élèves SSG)

Un nombre de famille seront contactées par le professeur de leur enfant afin de démarrer ce processus de soutien. Notre décision de développer un plan de soutien est basés sur les informations disponibles, de ce fait, nous developerons un plan pour les élèves se situant au niveau correspondant à plus de douze mois au-dessus ou en-dessous du niveau attendu. Les groupes de soutien sont pour les familles qui bénéficient d’un financement du Disability Inclusion Funding (Fonds de soutien inclusif pour handicap).

Comme vous le constatez, le secteur de l’éducation est miné d’acronymes, il est parfois difficile de s’y retrouver !

Nouveau professeur

Lundi prochain, nous accueilleront Monsieur David Preston, nouveau professeur à CJC. Il se joindra à M. Prévet dans les classes binômes de 6ème du programme français binational. David possède un grand bagage de connaissances, il a une passion pour la technologie et sa langue seconde est le français. Nous sommes confiants que toute la communité l’accueillera bien chaleureusement.

Auburn High School visite CJC

Aujourd’hui, nous avons eu la chance de recevoir Ross Pritchard, Acting Principal et Kristie Satilmis, Assistant principal à Auburn High School.  Le but de cette visite est de renforcer la continuité du parcours homologué des classes binationales entre l’école primaire et le collège, et de préparer un calendrier de rencontres et visites entre nos deux établissements.

Très prochainement, l’équipe d’Auburn High School viendra présenter à notre communauté les changements récents d’accès au programme Binational d’Auburn. Un grand merci à 

Joseph Chang, notre Président du School Council, d’avoir participer à cette rencontre.
