Banksia House

Meet the Banksia House Captains!

Hi, my name is Ava and I am the 2023 Banksia House Captain. I am so incredibly excited to work with all of the other captains and so grateful for the opportunity I have been given. I am very excited to get to know the other student leaders and create a deeper bond with them over the year.

I see Dandenong High School as an inclusive environment for everyone, which allows each individual to succeed in many different ways. Therefore, when I decided to run for this position, I wanted to not only show this through the whole school but really make a difference in Banksia. When I was thinking about what goals I had for this year, many of them were academic and personal goals, but I had realised that I needed some to play my part as a leader in Banksia. As someone who has been at Dandenong High School since Year 7, I have seen many changes, and I would really like to ensure that the student population has a voice in these changes and can be heard.

Furthermore, I am so excited to be representing Banksia this year and cannot wait to see all of the amazing achievements we will make this year. I would love to hear from everyone and get to know everyone so please don't be afraid to come up to me and have a chat! :)

Greeting, my name is Omid Hashemi and I am honoured to hold the position of one of the Banksia House Captains. I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to collaborate with my fellow captains and am grateful for the prospects that lie ahead. As the school year progresses, I eagerly anticipate meeting and forming relationships with the other student leaders. I envision Dandenong High School as a place where individuals from diverse backgrounds can come together, connect, and achieve their highest potential. Dandenong High School fosters growth and development for each student, and that's one of the things I love about this school. I chose to run for this position as I aspire to make a positive impact on Banksia, and ultimately the school.

Term 1 has been a rollercoaster of emotions with frequent SACs and events. While this can be stressful, it also motivates us to strive for excellence. The guidance and support provided by our teachers, particularly for Year 12 students, is invaluable. Furthermore, the ongoing support of our peers throughout this journey has had a positive influence on all of us. We also were lucky enough to hold our Swimming Carnival with its vibrant colours, contagious smiles, and fierce competition - an event that I will always cherish. It embodies unity and sportsmanship and will be remembered by all the year levels.
