Hakea House
Meet the Hakea House Captains!
Hello everyone! My name is Ruchini, and I am honoured to be one of Hakea's House Captains for 2023.
Over the course of my time at DHS, I have looked up to many leaders, including teachers, friends, and student leaders. I have been inspired by them to step outside of my comfort zone and try new things, even if it may be challenging; one of them was being a leader.
This year, I hope to establish meaningful connections with students in Hakea and to cultivate a safe environment where everyone can share ideas and concerns. I'm looking forward to organising events and activities which I believe will help us achieve this. Together, along with Ben and the Hakea SRC, I believe we can make Hakea the best it's been.
Hello everyone, my name is Ben and I am proud to be your 2023 Hakea House Captain.
During my time at Dandenong High School, from a young Year 7 to a now grown Year 12, I have seen many other leaders over time. Now, after five years, I can proudly announce that I am your newly elected House Captain of Hakea. My goal this year is to leave behind a footprint and be your role model.
Just a little about myself: I am a down-to-earth guy, easy to approach and talk to about anything. So, please join me and Ruchini and the Hakea HLT to make Hakea as great as possible this year. Thank you.
Swimming Carnival reflection
Swimming Carnival was a great start for Hakea! Beating Banksia by just 2 points, we ended with a total of 192 points. It was great to see so many Hakeans represent the House by wearing yellow and cheering on the competitors. It was also great to see so many students from 7-12 in the water competing whilst also having fun.
We hope to keep up the effort for the rest of the year and see more students taking part in whole school events!!
It was also good to see some of the students dress up for the day. It was a good way for other students to get comfortable with the other students. It was also good to see that people were representing in their House colours and sporting their swimmers on the day. Here are just some of the costumes that the year 12s came in. Everyone had a blast, especially Hakea. We’d love to see Hakea also take it home for the Athletics Carnival!
