Music

Students in Year 1 have been developing their understanding of rhythm in the Music classroom. They have been learning to visually represent one or two sounds on a beat for known songs in preparation for representing sound more formally with musical notation.
Use the ‘Ask Me’ table below to reinforce your child’s musical understanding at home. You can use these questions to prompt your child to show you what they have been learning in their Music lessons.

Marimba
All students in Years 4, 5 and 6 will participate in an ensemble in the 2023 Marimba Program. Beginning in February, each student began attending a weekly rehearsal for 30 minutes with their classmates. The Marimba Program is an extension of the Classroom Music Program. The marimba ensemble teacher is Blake Hansen. Blake is an experienced music teacher who taught percussion and marimba at EHPS last year. During rehearsals, students are given the opportunity to improve:
- listening skills

- concentration
- ability to follow instructions
- self-control
- teamwork
- sense of community

Program information has been published on Compass. Consent and payment of $60 are payable now, and not later than next Friday, 10 March.
