Welcome back

Welcome back to the 2021 school year. I hope your children have all settled into their school routine and that they are happy and ready to learn!

We have certainly noticed students' smiles and eagerness in approaching the new year.

A special welcome to our new families. I hope you are getting to know us and are starting to feel part of our GEPS family.

Classes

Students are settling well into their classes and have started rich learning programs. A big focus has been on reading and the benefits of wide reading and deep reading. Every student at GEPS reads independently daily and every student in the school has explicit reading instruction daily. We are proud of the way students love to read and love to think hard!

We also offer a range of opportunities to nurture the whole child. This week, Yoganauts started providing yoga lessons to students from Kindergarten to Year 2. This program builds physical strength and flexibility as well as resilience and mindfulness.

Meet the teacher

You would have already received a note from your child's class teacher introducing themselves. We hope you feel like you know a little bit more about our professional team.

We want to give you a chance to come and:

meet the teacher;
see the classroom; and
learn a little about what's in store for the year of learning.

We are scheduling Open Afternoons (each stage at a different time - to satisfy COVID safety guidelines). Please make some time to attend these sessions:

Stage 1	Years 1 and 2	Monday 22 February 2:30-3:30pm
Stage 2	Years 3 and 4	Thursday 18 February 2:30-3:30pm
Stage 3	Years 5 and 6	Monday 15 February 2:30-3:30pm
Kindergarten		Learning Conversations- first week of March.
