Wellbeing

Well-being at GGLPS

It is essential that all students in the school feel safe and know that they belong to a supportive and caring environment. Well-being in a broad sense to us incorporates behaviour management, programs to support students socially and emotionally and the development of strategies to act responsibly and aid learning. You are encouraged to discuss these ideas and strategies with your children to reinforce what is happening at school.

Be You Program

Last Wednesday at Parent Information night I spoke about some of the well-being supports we have in place for mental health and reintroduced the Be You program which we will relaunch this year.

“Be You provides educators with knowledge, resources and strategies for helping children and young people achieve their best possible mental health.” For a brief insight into the program, watch the video below.

The Be You program looks at how we can support mental health in terms of the whole school community, cluster, class and the individual.

The recent surveys that you would have received from your teachers help us get to know your child and form a relationship with them. This ties in with the Be You program beautifully.

Finally, part of the Be You program is setting up a 'Be You’ GGLPS Committee. We had some volunteers express interest at the start of last year and again we are asking for anyone interested to be part of this to let me know.

Throughout the year you will hear a lot more about the Be You program and how your child will be involved and how you as a parent can support your child/ren.

The school is certainly looking forward to continuing to build positive relationships that support the wellbeing of our students.
