Hope in the person of Jesus Christ opens up to us new horizons of goodness and rightness; the birth of Jesus challenges the mirages of dominance and self-centredness.

In Jesus our hope is born:

He is good for us now;

We can find our future in Him;

Our trust is assured through Him;

And we are invited to work with Him.

Continue to believe in Jesus Christ, born from God and born of Mary; for he offers us his life so that we might find our lives in him.

Due to ongoing COVID-19 restrictions, we were unable to celebrate the annual St James College Thanksgiving and Year Ten Graduation Masses this year.

Subsequently, we celebrated the ending of the school year in a series of Liturgical Assemblies across the four different year levels. As part of these celebrations, we prayed for those students who will be moving into the next year of their education at our College in 2021. We prayed that they will continue to use their own individual gifts and talents to help them continue to get the very best out of themselves. Also, we prayed particularly for all the students and their families who are moving away from the College next year. We asked God that they too would continue to be blessed and guided by the love of God as they continue their journey into the future. As part of the Graduation Liturgy, we celebrated the achievements of our wonderful group of Year 10 students.

As we now approach Christmas and celebrate the season of Advent, I would encourage you to spend some time with your family and maybe chat about opportunities you might have to express your collective faith, in prayer and also through your own actions towards others. At this season of “closeness,” it might be an appropriate time to look at the way in which we can assist those who are without those close family ties and those who are less fortunate than ourselves.

I wish you all a very happy (COVID free) and peaceful Christmas!

“For to us a child is born,

To us a son is given.

And the government will be upon his shoulder;

and his name will be called

“Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God,

Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” (Is 9:6)
