School Fees
A reminder to our families that we would like all school fees finalised by Friday 4th December 2020. Payments can be made at any time via Qkr, Direct Debit or EFT direct into the school's bank account (Ref: surname and fee account number). Thank you to those families who pay their fees promptly; this helps so much with our school budget. We are aware of financial difficulties facing some families in these hard times and are more than happy to talk with families experiencing problems. Please make contact with the Principal, by phone or by appointment, to discuss your financial responsibilities. It is vital that you do make contact, thank you.

Cars at the INFANTS
The Pick-Up/Drop Off Area at the rear of the Infants Campus in Thompson Crescent is very busy before and after school. We ask parents to please leave as quickly as possible as cars often bank up and hinder the flow of traffic. Please take the first available parking spot and not wait for your preferred park. As a safety precaution, please alight from the car when parked and then assist your child out of the car and ensure that they are safely on school grounds. When leaving the Pick-Up area, you are requested to TURN LEFT ONLY and proceed around Thompson Crescent. This week some parents have been witnessed doing the incorrect thing and turning right against the flow of traffic (instead of left) and causing near misses and great distress to other drivers. We appreciate your help in these important safety matters.
Semester 2 Reports/Compass Parent Portal
Earlier this year St Ed's launched the Parent Compass Portal. The majority of our parents have now logged in and use the portal on a daily basis to report absences. Semester 2 reports are currently being finalised by Teachers and we remind parents that this year, for the first time, you will no longer be receiving a paper copy of your child's school report. Semester 2 reports will be only available in digital format on the Compass Parent Portal and will be released on Thursday 10th December. Please contact either school office if you are having issues with your login details.
Student Absences
A gentle reminder that all absences must be explained within 7 days, otherwise they will automatically move into 'unexplained' and cannot be retrieved. These days will be reflected in the students school reports. It is easy to do via Compass and is best done on the day so the task is not forgotten.
Student Drink Bottles
With a spike in warmer temperatures it is important that all students present each day with a drink bottle to remain well hydrated. Unfortunately bubblers continue to remain closed due to COVID restrictions. At both Campuses we are seeing a large number of students with no water bottle and therefore attending the office to obtain plastic cups. We ask parents to please check and ensure that your children have a water bottle in their school bag daily. Thank you for your continued support.
Students in Sick Bay
In the current climate, if your child presents at sick bay complaining of feeling sick, we are required to call parents to collect their children. Likewise, if your child has a cough, sore throat, runny nose or other illness, please keep them at home and do not send them to school. As per NSW Health guidelines, if your child has any cold or flu like symptoms symptoms, please have them COVID tested. A negative test result needs to be provided to the school and the child needs to be symptom-free prior to their return. Thank you for your continued co-operation.
2021 School Travel Applications Now Open
Applications for student travel in 2021 opened from Monday 12 October 2020.
Students who require a School Opal card or travel pass for 2021 can now apply online. A new application should be submitted if a student is applying for a school travel pass for the first time or requesting an additional pass as a result of a new shared parental responsibility situation (e.g. joint custody).
Students who have changed school/campus, changed address, repeated a year or received an expiry notification from Transport for NSW for their school travel entitlement should re-apply or update their details.
*Applications must be completed by the student's parent or legal guardian if the student is aged under 16 years. Students 16 years and over must complete the application form themselves.
Where there is a change of distance eligibility based on a student’s grade, the system will automatically update a student’s entitlement if they meet the new criteria. If they do not meet the new eligibility criteria, they will receive an expiry notification via email.
Students who have an entitlement approved under a medical condition which is due to expire will receive a notification advising them to re-apply.
Term Bus Pass holders will receive a notification to re-apply.
If a student needs to update their information or re-apply, they should go online to https://apps.transport.nsw.gov.au/ssts/updateDetails
Applications need to be submitted before 31 December 2020 to ensure that current student entitlements are updated and their current entitlement/card remains valid. If their application is submitted after 31 December 2020, the system will automatically cancel an entitlement/card and a new one will need to be issued.
Students in the Opal network applying for a SSTS or Term Bus Pass entitlement for the first time will receive their card at their nominated postal address. Cards will be mailed out from January 2021.
Students residing in Rural and Regional (R&R) areas should receive their travel pass at the commencement of the new school year from their nominated operator, this may be distributed via the school or sent direct to their address. Note: some R&R operators do not issue travel passes. Students/Parents should confirm with their nominated operator if they do not receive a pass.
