Year 6
Resilience, Rights & Respectful Relationships
At BNPS we are committed to creating and maintaining a safe and inclusive space for everyone to have a voice and opinion free of fear and/or exclusion.
This term, the Year 6 students have embarked on their Respectful Relationships journey. In the first few lessons, the aim has been for:
- Students to identify people who they can turn to when they need help
- Students to identify people who already contribute to, support or help them
- Students to identify ways in which they provide help to others
As a class the students were able to list small problems, they could manage themselves vs. larger problems that are too hard to handle alone.
We have been very impressed with how the students have embraced these lessons and how open they have been in their discussions.
Mythological Masks
All of year 6 began their projects by sketching creative designs to create a unique mask inspired by mythological gods. We got huge slates of cardboard to start our construction of our masks. This was the beginning of a long process of cutting, finding the right shapes, and sculpting with cardboard to make our work pop out. We painted detail, created and included bold print designs, which all added intricate pattern to our work. Finally, we got to our favourite part where we got to embellish our work with poscas.
We really enjoyed doing all this amazing work to get this wonderful masterpiece in the end, it was so worth it.
Year 6 presented their final works at last week's assembly.
