Mother's Day Pampering
Last Wednesday after lunch, our mums and special friends came to the Prep Learning Centre for a special Mother’s Day pampering session. We decorated the classrooms with pink and silver tablecloths, put some flowers in vases and made our mums special love heart cards. We also had a pink love heart chocolate for them.

We gave Mum a massage, put hand cream on, painted her nails, did her make-up and some of us even did our mum’s hair. The Prep teachers thought we did a really good job! They also thought it was very funny!!
We loved spoiling our mums!
Our mums and special helpers looked so beautiful when they left…
Firefighters Return To Visit
The firefighters returned after lunch on Wednesday 3rd May. They drove their truck on to our school oval and showed us how the firefighting hoses are sprayed. We were amazed at how far the water went! We all then had a go of being firefighters ourselves and soaking the oval!

The Daily 5
The Prep children have been introduced to the 'Daily 5' program. This is a research-based literacy framework that guides both student and teacher behaviours to create a classroom of engaged and independent readers and writers. The Daily 5 is a way of structuring the classroom reading program so every student is independently involved in meaningful literacy tasks.
The Daly 5 consists of:
- Read to Self
- Listen to Reading
- Read to Someone
- Work with Words
- Work on Writing
During Word Work, students experiment with spelling patterns, memorize high-frequency words, and develop a genuine curiosity for and interest in new and unique words. By playing with words, word patterns, word families, prefixes, suffixes, and so on, students hone their knowledge of words and increase their speaking and writing skills.
