PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

End of Term 2

Term 2 is nearly over, and we are extremely pleased that the school has had an excellent start to the year. The students have been working productively and our young people’s attitudes toward demonstrating our College values of Strive, Unite, Respect and Flourish have been increasingly evident as the year has progressed.

A reminder to families that students will be dismissed on Friday June 23rd at 2:00pm.

Term 3 will commence on Monday July 10th at 8:50am.

Supporting our Senior Students during the GAT

As our students prepare for the GAT, for some, this can be a stressful time not just for our young people, but also their parents and carers who play a vital role in supporting the academic journey of their child.

With the General Achievement Test (GAT) taking place on the 15th of June, below are some important reminders for our students:

  • Stay focused and do your best.
  • Believe in yourself.
  • No need to be nervous, no need to be stressed.
  • Keep a positive attitude.
  • Stay confident and concentrate.
  • Give it your best and success shall be yours.

Attendance

The importance of regular attendance cannot be overstated. Attending school regularly and punctually is an essential aspect of achieving academic success. By attending class consistently, students have the opportunity to engage in meaningful learning experiences, interact with teachers and peers, and actively participate in discussions and activities.

As a school, we are committed to supporting the educational growth of our students, and regular attendance is a critical component of that journey.

We urge parents and carers to prioritise and support regular attendance and to communicate with the College whenever their child is unable to attend (this can be done via Compass or by calling the College’s Absence Line on 5261 6633.) Open lines of communication between parents, carers, and the school are essential in addressing attendance concerns promptly and finding appropriate solutions to support students' educational needs.

Uniform Reminder

As we head into cooler weather, it is important to emphasis the College’s Uniform Policy.

Uniforms play a key role in creating a positive and conducive learning environment within our school. They instil a sense of pride, unity, and discipline among our students, fostering a strong school identity.

Wearing a uniform helps to eliminate social and economic differences and promotes equality and inclusivity, ensuring that every student feels valued and respected. Uniforms also alleviate the pressure of making fashion choices, allowing students to focus their energy on their academic pursuits and personal development.

We remind all students to adhere to the Uniform Policy (available on our website.) Some families may be eligible for financial assistance for some uniform items. Please contact the College’s Finance Team to see if you are eligible by emailing accounts@scsc.vic.edu.au
