Year 10 Work Experience Week

All Year 10 students will complete a week of work experience from Monday 19 June - Friday 23 June.  The aim of work experience is to provide students with a valuable opportunity to:

  • develop employability skills
  • explore possible career options
  • understand employer expectations
  • increase their self-understanding, maturity, independence and self-confidence.

During the week of work experience students who are undertaking a School-Based Apprenticeship can choose to do their block work placement with their employer or choose another employer to do work experience with.

 

Forms need to be returned, signed by all parties (except Principal) by 2 June.

 

If you are wanting to work at the hospital, you need to complete the link that was emailed to you, this information was conveyed by email and we obtained it from the survey that we asked to you to complete.

 

Anyone wishing to undertake Work Experience at St Mary's, Echuca Primary School or Foodmach please see Mrs Reynolds or myself in the Careers office.

 

You are unable to complete work experience with your parents unless someone other than your parents is supervising you.

 

If your employer is unable to take you during the week we have allocated you may negotiate another week. You may also go to Melbourne or interstate if you wish.

 

VET/ Allied Health students are encouraged to use the Work Experience week for their Structured Workplace 40 hour placement. 

 

For students who are having difficulties in finding a placement, please see Mrs Reynolds or Mrs Crossman in the Careers office.

 

Local Expo for Local Employers in Local Industry

 

Campaspe Cohuna Careers Network is hosting a Careers Expo and VTAC Seminar at St Joseph’s College in July.

 

The purpose of the expo is to showcase a variety of careers, training and employment opportunities that are available to the young people in the Cohuna Campaspe region. 

 

This is an event whereby local businesses, industries and community organisations are invited to exhibit to engage with young people and their families and inform them about all the possible future employment opportunities within your organisation.

 

It is anticipated that approximately 200 students and parents will attend.

 

When:            Wednesday 19 July

Where:           St Joseph’s College, Oak Centre

Time:              6pm - VTAC Seminar 

                          7pm – 8.30pm - Expo
