Term 2 Information:

Week 4 Fixtures – Saturday 27th May

Round 2 (Week 3) Results

Reconciliation Sports Round:

National Reconciliation Week is held each year from 27 May – 3 June. These dates commemorate two significant milestones in the reconciliation journey: The successful 1967 referendum (27 May 1967) and the High Court Mabo decision (3 June 1992). National Reconciliation Week is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.

The theme for National Reconciliation Week 2023, Be a Voice for Generations, encourages all Australians to be a voice for reconciliation in tangible ways in our everyday lives – where we live, work, and socialise. (And play sport).

Links to further information, facts, posters, social tiles and other resources from Reconciliation Australia are available at National Reconciliation Week - Reconciliation Australia

In Round 4, Saturday 27th, students are encouraged to wear red, black, or yellow ribbons or socks in support of the reconciliation round. We will also be acknowledging The Traditional Owners of the Land.

Junior Sports News

SAPSASA Representation

Loreto has had several girls selected in East Adelaide SAPSASA teams this term.

Grace Cornish recently played in the AFL carnival at West Beach. The team did well in some tricky conditions and finished 3rd in the top division.

Next month we have Alexandra Holland, Alyssa Reed and Grace Cornish playing in the netball carnival at the Netball SA Stadium plus Marnie Sherwell, Maddison Graves, Matilda Carney, Juliet Searle and Alexandra Holland competing in the State Cross Country Carnival at Oakbank. Good luck girls!

Soccer

Well done to our Year 5/6 girls who have started the term with some big wins: 9-1, 12-1 and 13-0. Interest has been so strong among our Year 3/4 girls that we have now entered a second team. It’s great to see the sport growing at Loreto. The soccer draws will get re-done after the July holidays so there will be the chance for new players to sign up and play. Matches are on Friday afternoons.

Looking for Players - Year 4/5/6 Volleyball

We have just enough players to enter a team this winter but would love 1-2 extras to give ourselves some cover.

Volleyball games are fast, fun and exciting with rules and equipment suitable for newcomers. We play our games Friday after school at the Unley High School gym.

If you daughter is interested in playing, please contact Ben at Ben.Johnswood@loreto.sa.edu.au
