Performing Arts

There is never a moment when a melody or rhythm is not ringing through the BPAC. There are many students preparing for music examinations, and rehearsals for the Middle Years Production, Aladdin JR. are building in intensity.

In the past few weeks we have had a group-devised drama performance, skilfully presented by the VCE Drama class, and individual Music Performance recitals from the VCE Music students. Each music performer presented two contrasting works in both mood and style, featuring mature interpretation and memory work. There have also been music ensemble photos, with each group smiling for the camera.

With three weeks to go until the end of this semester, they are arguably the busiest for our musicians, with a Soiree and Music Ensemble evenings for both our Senior and Junior Schools. There is also Senior Music Camp to consider, taking place at the end of the first week of Term 3.

Our Year 6 students successfully completed their auditions for the Junior School Production of Seussical JR. and rehearsals for both the Year 6 cast and all Junior School classes will commence very soon. The Junior School (Years 4 – 6) was also treated to some Taiko drumming, presented by Taikoz in association with Musica Viva. The enjoyment on the faces of the students was evident as they were immersed in Japanese music and culture, as well as some seriously complicated ryhthms.

We hope to see you at a performance in the BPAC or LMC very soon!

VCE Units 1 and 3 Music Concert

A memorably fine concert was given by the VCE music students from Units 1 and 3 on 25 May.  Showing poise and professionalism which impressed, the varied program ranged from Bach to Stevie Wonder, from classical to jazz and contemporary. Instruments were also varied with Olivia Mansell, Jarvis Eleveld, Leila Rivet and Alicia Barker on voice; Vanda Amin-Moayyed, Ezra Rickard, Xin Ran Huang on piano, Atlanta Schaeche on violin, and Chloe Skipworth on the alto saxophone.

The concert provided valuable focus and audience practice as the students, especially the Year 12s, head into the second half of the year. They can be proud of what they achieved, and the audience could certainly have listened longer!
