Communal Singing

In Term 1, the songs we have learnt for communal singing are:

Haida (a traditional Jewish round)
Dum Dum Song (a choir warm up song with actions)
Clarity (by Vance Joy)
I Am Australian (with keysigns)

Song writing – Grade 6

During Term 1 Grade 6 have been learning about aspects of song writing. Students have just begun to tap into their own creative energies and begin the writing process. It is always fascinating to see what they will come up with and I’m looking forward to some interesting performances towards the end of Term 2.

Rhythmic Compositions – Grade 5

Grade 5 have been creating their own rhythmic compositions using chop sticks and chairs. They have been given criteria and have needed to think about structure and tempo. Click on the videos below to hear what they have been up to:

Beat, Rhythm and Notation – Grade 4

Grade 4 have spent much of the term drumming and playing games that help consolidate an internalised sense of beat. We have also been reading and playing rhythms and singing our hearts out!
