Year 1 Art - Under the sea spray paint

In Art lessons this term, Year 1 students have been looking at different examples of street art - we talked about what makes something art rather than graffiti and examined local examples as well as art by Banksy. Students designed a stencil - the theme was under the sea. They strengthened their fine motor skills by cutting the stencils out of cardboard, which were attached to paper.

Next was the fun part - they added colour by spraying liquid watercolours over their paper. The stencil was removed and we were left with their image in white!
