Beyond the Classroom

STEM Club

We have a fantastic STEM Club available on Wednesdays at lunchtime in B13. All students are welcome to attend. The Club Coordinator, Mr Lim, has some brilliant activities on offer – building vortex cannons, using the 3D printer, making an invisibility device, creating 3D holograms and much more.

If you have some great ideas about what you would like to do in STEM Club please speak to Mr Lim, as he is always open to new suggestions.

Our fabulous Victorian State Schools Spectacular troupe continue to shine at their rehearsals. Here is a video from their last mass dance rehearsal:

Artwork of the Week

Our Art students are producing some fabulous work, as part of their art classes, in Art Club and our Digital Art and Design Club.

Our latest Artwork of the Week has been created by Maya Haddad from 9.1 and Maddison from 7.1.

Maya produced her exceptional work in her Year 9 Art class with Ms Sloan. The Year 9 class have been researching Margaret Preston, a famous Australian Print Artist. They looked at botanical drawings and then simplified these to become a lino cut. This is beautiful work from Maya.

Maddison created a tiny magnetic canvas measuring 7.5cm x 7.5 cm that was painted using paint markers and fineliner. Maddison completed her lovely artwork in Art Club.

Dungeons & Dragons

There has been a recent revival of Dungeons & Dragons in the wider community, with the recent film, and more and more articles appearing about the benefits of Dungeons & Dragons.  ABC News reported last week that “studies so far showed the game helped children improve their communication, self-awareness and critical thinking skills” (click here to read more). Our D&D students attend our club “because it’s fun”!

If you would like to join the club, please go to 7O in the Yawa Centre on Fridays at lunchtime. If you have any questions, please speak to Ms Titcombe.

Homework and Study Club

Don't forget our homework club is on every Thursday afternoon from 3:30pm until 4:30pm in the library, with teachers on hand to help out! Anyone and everyone is welcome to join the study sessions and not to mention, snacks are available!
