Year 8 pantry challenge

In Year 8 we are continuing to develop an understanding of the relationship between sustainability and our environment. The challenge for the students was to investigate food waste in the home. Without going to the supermarket they were to prepare the family meal.

Once again, the students delight us with their talents. Please keep on encouraging them in the kitchen.

Year 10- Café Culture

Cooking is chemistry! We will be researching the properties of food in the coming weeks. This week we investigated eggs in more detail, exploring denaturing, aeration and the Maillard reaction (a chemical reaction between amino acids and reducing sugars that gives browned food its distinctive flavor).

Students had a choice of creating a pavlova or chocolate roll to salivate the family’s taste buds. Feast your eyes on these beautifully presented desserts, the perfect way to end a meal!
