Wear It Purple Day

Wear It Purple Day is Friday 28 August

Wear it Purple is about showing young LGBTIQA+ people that they have the right to be proud of who they are. It is about creating safe spaces in schools, universities, workplaces and public spaces, to show young LGBTIQA+ people that they are seen and supported. Northcote High School celebrates Wear It Purple Day each year, and this year will be no different!

We are putting the call out for positive, supportive and inspiring video messages, pictures, art and any other thoughtful contributions, from the students and staff of NHS, to post on our Wear It Purple Day 2020 Padlet page, which can be accessed here. All the better if it contains plenty of purple!

As we usually accept donations in person when we celebrate at school, we are also hoping you may be able to make a contribution to the Wear It Purple foundation online, through this link.

Further information about the Wear It Purple foundation, and resources for Secondary School students, including queer booklists and support strategies for coming out, and supporting LGBTIQA+ family and friends, can be accessed on the links below.

As always, I am sending all of my encouragement, support and thoughts out to the NHS Queer Community. Don’t forget Rainbow Club continues via WebEx each Friday lunch time, contact me via Compass if you need the details.

Take care, stay safe, and happy Wear It Purple Day!
