PREP AND GRADE 6 INCURSION
On the 26th of April, the grade 6 and preps had an incursion about a traditional Japanese story called ‘omusubikorolinn’ which means ‘Rice Ball Tumble Tumbling’. Anne also told us some words, for example, ‘daiisukidayo’ meaning ‘I love’. Anne brought a series of instruments including some she had made to perform a dance. We also played with some of the traditional instruments. Anne performed shakuhachi which is a flute made out of bamboo. The Grade 6s and the Preps enjoyed the Japanese incursion very much.
A big thank you to Mrs Foster and Mrs Plumb for helping out in the Japanese incursions. We would also like to say a big thank you to Miss Maki Sensei for organizing the incursions.

On Thursday the 26th of April, Zilla san & Moemi san came and taught the grade 5’s about the history of Japanese clothing. We learnt about traditional and modern Japanese clothing. Some people even got to wear some traditional yukata (which, if you’re wondering is a traditional Japanese clothing similar to a kimono.) Yukata is worn in Summer because it’s made of cotton and is light whereas the kimono is worn in winter because it is made of wool and has many layers. They also prepared a quiz for us to test how much we
had learnt.
Everybody had lots of fun and learnt a lot!
