Community News

It’s been such a difficult time for our local sporting clubs.

To recognise and celebrate club members who have gone above and beyond to keep team spirit alive during this pandemic, I’m taking this year’s Jagajaga Sporting Awards online.

The efforts by many people to keep their Club community engaged and their spirits up has been so important.

I know there have been so many ways you have all been doing your part.

I invite you to nominate someone from your Club to receive a Jagajaga Team Spirit Award, so we can highlight and celebrate them

This might include someone who has:

  • Kept club members and their club community up-to-date;
  • Worked on Covid safe plans for the club; or
  • Kept up or helped deliver training remotely.

I’ll be celebrating our awards winners on social media and each winner will be sent a certificate.

Simply click on the button below to nominate someone for the Team Spirit Award.Thank you for taking the time to nominate somebody.

Extreme Hardship Support Program

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Extreme Hardship Support Program - factsheet

Can you help?

It is early days but basically it is a book of true stories about Wellbeing, Therapy, Assistance or other kinds of Working Dogs, and how they have changed people’s lives.     I am an author of seven books, three of which aim to educate young people about the wonderful work of Assistance and Therapy Dogs in our community, the rest about life skills for young people.   The new book project is aimed at secondary school aged readers.

As one step to sourcing stories I’m contacting schools, as some may be aware of Therapy Dogs or Assistance Dogs amongst the local community.   If you know of an inspirational story about how a dog has changed a life or lives I would be really interested in hearing from you.   I am particularly interested in dogs that assist those with physical disabilities, autism, veterans and first responders, assist children or provide mental and emotional support  -  however ALL dog stories about dogs making a difference are most welcome.

Alternately, could you please share this email with staff and even families?   Newsletters, broadcasts or any way you can think of.  That way if anyone happens to know someone with a Working Dog and has a story to tell, they can get in touch with me directly at gina@ginadawson.com   for more information.          Any help, stories or leads to get the new project up and running much appreciated.    I ask that anyone interested in participating to get in touch.

Thank you for supporting the work of Australian authors and for anything you can do to assist me in this venture.   As an aside, if you are in my books, please take a look at www.ginadawson.com/books      You can order directly through me via email, or through my website.
