F-4 Community News

Welcome back to another wonderful term. We are excited to be diving into some rich learning experiences and special events throughout this term.

Firstly, we would like to thank all the parents who booked times to meet with their child/ren’s subject teachers. We enjoyed seeing some of you onsite and some virtually and can’t wait to continue to build the partnership between you and the school.

Next week we are looking forward to having our mothers and other significant women in our lives on-site to share in liturgy and visit the classrooms to participate in some fun activities. We can’t wait to celebrate with you and I know the students have been practising some hand massage techniques, so be prepared to relax and enjoy a fun morning together.

Our Year 3 students will also participate in NAPLAN next week. We ask all Year 3 students to please bring a set of headphones for the week. We wish them all the best for the duration of NAPLAN week.

Foundation

It has been amazing to see so many Foundation students reading at home.

Congratulations to all of the children who have achieved their 25 or 50 nights of reading certificates over the past two weeks.

Keep up the great reading everyone!

Years 1 and 2

We have had a terrific start to Term 2 and it was great to see all the students return well-rested and looking forward to another great term of learning.

In Religious Education we are learning all about Jesus. We looked at the food Jesus would have eaten and had a sample taste of olives, dates, feta cheese, melon, grapes and flatbread.  Some of these foods we liked and others we didn’t. We compared Jesus' food to the food we eat.

We looked at the houses that the people of Jesus’ time would have lived in. We made these houses out of Lego and blocks.  The student had a lot of fun doing this.

After we returned from the holidays we learned about Anzac Day. We made red poppies and extended our vocabulary by making a word wall. We also visited the display in the auditorium and enjoyed an Anzac biscuit.

This week we are preparing to attend the Parish Liturgy on Thursday. The focus of this will be on nurses and how we are grateful for the help they give us and our families. Many of our parents are nurses and we are truly thankful for the hard work they do caring for the sick.

We are also getting ready to spoil the wonderful women in our world this weekend on Mother’s Day. We have made a special memento of our love for them. We are really looking forward to celebrating these special women on Monday by having a liturgy and then spoiling and pampering them back in our classrooms.
