Banksia House

Term 2 has begun with a student-led focus on fundraising for our chosen charity – The Song Room – an organisation based in Melbourne that provides support through creative programs for children from disadvantaged communities.

Our Student Leaders are keen to build a focus on supporting our community and being generous, caring members of our House and the wider community.

A message to our Banksian students from your SRC Leadership Team:

House Captains: Anaisis & Akbar

SRC:

Year 7 - Mustafa

Year 8 - Reza

Year 9 - Awar

Year 10 - Fazia

Year 11 - Rachael

Year 12 - Ela

Being a member of the SRC is to accept the responsibility to look after your House and the people in it. It is an obligation and a promise to your peers to always do your best to provide them with the support they need to get through the term. This includes aiding them in their education and their wellbeing. As such, the Banksia SRC Leadership team is extremely excited to introduce you all to some upcoming events occurring in Banksia House… with many more to come (we promise!):

Lollipop Lunchtimes

From the 9th of May this week, the Banksia leadership representatives will be walking around the school on Mondays and Thursdays selling lollipops and other goodies! Keep a lookout for us around the canteen, green area and Banksia House. The lollipops will sell for 50c each or 3 for $1.00.

Weekly Tutoring

Currently, the Banksia SRC Leadership Representatives are searching for Year 11 & 12 students who are open to tutoring students from Banksia and other houses. The tutoring classes will be day-specific, always to be held in Banksia House.

‘Uniform Blitz

This is aimed to encourage students to wear the correct winter uniform and have pride in the school and will run in Week 4 of Term 2.

Rachael B and the SRC Team

Thank you to Rachael 11B and our SRC team for their outstanding efforts supporting students and events in the House.

Mr Dowsing is visiting all classes to ask the question: How are we enacting the Community Commitment and showing pride in ourselves, our school and our learning? We are creating a display in the House showing how each student is enacting the behaviours of inclusivity, connectedness and a focus on learning.

Finally, congratulations to our first two Students of the week for Term 2. Keep up the great work, Banksia students!

We are looking forward to showing our school spirit at the upcoming House Athletics Sports.  Go Banksia!
