Principal's Report

Happy Easter / Holidays

Final Day of Term One

This Friday, 8 April is the final day of term one.

Student dismissal is at 2:30pm.

Our first day of term two is Tuesday 26 April.

Wishing you all a safe and restful term break.  I hope you all enjoy a wonderful Easter weekend too, full of happiness and chocolate.

SIR's & SLC's

Thank you to the vast majority of families who were able to attend Student Led Conferences (SLC) last night and this evening.  If you were unavailable on the two evening's offered, please contact the office to arrange an alternate night to catch up with your child's classroom teacher.  I hope they were beneficial and helped to support you with the next steps in your child's learning journey along the Victorian Curriculum.

Early feedback around our new Student Interim Reports (SIR) has been extremely positive. It appears many of you are appreciating the additional information.  Some have reported it's not easy to follow, so please feel free to seek clarity with classroom teachers or myself. Like most new things, it will become easier over time, so please persist - it is a far more informative reflection of your child's achievements.

2022 ANZAC Day

ANZAC Day this year falls on a Monday, being the day prior to term two beginning.

On our first day back of term two, Tuesday 26 April, we will hold our own school commemoration ceremony, led by our Year 5/6 students.

This is a significant day in our calendar and our curriculum.  Each year our year 5/6 students present a wonderful and fitting service for our school and broader community to enjoy.

This year, the service will be held at 11:30am at our local cenotaph.  The later start is due to it being the first day of term and the requirement for students to re-engage and practice.

I hope you can all place this significant event in your diaries and attend to cherish this great occasion with our students.

Thank you

Again, I would like to thank our community, in these continuing difficult times.  COVID-19 is still with us and you have remained positive and supportive.  Despite a high number of families requiring isolation and indeed being struck with COVID-19, we have managed to minimise its impact and keep children at school, learning.

I appreciate the protocols being implemented so respectfully, to ensure, as best we can, we all remain safe.  Your honesty and willingness to report cases to me has been much appreciated.

So too, our dedicated staff have continued to provide a quality education, under stressful and trying times.  From our entire community, a sincere thanks to all our staff at MRK-6.

I acknowledge the First Peoples of the Wathaurong, who are the traditional custodians of the land and waters on which I work and live, and pay my respects to their Elders past, present and emerging.
