SPOTLIGHT ON BREAKFAST CLUB

Thank you to our lovely student volunteers that have helped with Breakfast Club this term. We were fortunate enough to receive a grant from the Department to buy some appliances for Breakfast Club. In term 2, our Breakfast Club program will return to the space at the side of the music room. It will continue to be a grab and go space. We will offer fruit, milk, packets of cereal and toast.

The program will operate from 8.35am—8.50am each day—yes, just 15 minutes, but enough time to grab and eat on the way to class. Ms Naomi McMaster organises the program. We would love to have the help of some more volunteers, especially now that we will be cooking toast. If you think you could help to cook toast for 15 minutes on any of the mornings, please email me (debraanne.haddow@education.vic.gov.au ). You would just need to have your Working With Children Check and complete the Child Safe Training—as every volunteer does. Please let us know if you’d like to join our team.

No Dogs On School Grounds Please We are fortunate enough to have Bella, our school Therapy Dog, on site 3 days a week. She has gone through extensive training to make it safe and permissible for her to be on the school grounds. She wears a Therapy Dog vest so you can clearly see that she is a trained Therapy Dog.

Unfortunately, other dogs are NOT permitted on the school grounds. It is unsafe for the students as untrained dogs can be unpredictable, some students have a fear of dogs, and the mess left can be a problem.

We have signs on our fences to show that dogs are not permitted on our school grounds. Could you please help us keep our students safe by ensuring that you do not bring your dog onsite.

Assembly  will be held every Friday afternoon from 2.40pm-3.20pm in the Gym.

Families are welcome to attend and we will also send a video link on DOJO.

Attendance We look closely at our attendance data and support students who may have trouble with regular attendance. Weekly meetings are offered to support students and families.

We also have weekly meetings with the families of students on Behaviour Support Plans so we can work together to understand situations happening and how we can best support the student to make great choices.

At our last Assembly for the Term we will recognise Term 1 student attendance.

Just a reminder that we are an accredited Sunsmart school. This means students are strongly encouraged to wear their broad brimmed school hat or stay in the shade. From September until May, no hat means no play. UV rays increase in intensity from September—these are what burn the especially sensitive skin of children—even on cloudy days.

Wellbeing Contacts:

I have come across a few more contacts which might be helpful to our community members. So we’ll continue to build this resource for you.
