Lent, Holy Week and Easter

As we continue on our Lenten journey preparing for Easter, we look ahead to Holy Week one of the most significant events in the Catholic Church’s calendar. As such, each class grouping will be taking an aspect of the Holy Week pathway to dramatize.

These will take place each afternoon at  2:30 and families are welcome.

Monday – Reception Year 1’s will be re-enacting the story of Palm Sunday

Tuesday – Year 2/3’s will be reenacting The Last Supper and the Washing of the Feet

Wednesday – Year 4/5 will be reenacting The Garden of Gethsemane

Thursday – Year 5/6 will be reenacting The Stations of the Cross.

If you do not wish your child to have a role and be an ACTIVE  participant in the re-enactment or if you need more information please telephone, email or chat to your child’s class teacher or to me Paula Burns APRIM pburns@stb.catholic.edu.au

Easter Week

Week 11, we look forward to welcoming you back after Easter. There will be an Easter liturgy from 9:00 am which you are all welcome to attend.

Early Notice

On Friday week 11 (14th April) there will be a Caritas Carnival to which all families are invited. There will be different stalls with activities to complete, raising awareness about the work of Caritas Australia. We ask the students to bring back their Project Compassion boxes in this week.

Lent and Ramadan

As a welcoming Catholic school, that embraces all our faiths and cultural communities within our school, this week we learned all about Ramadan. During Heart Learning we watched and listened to Adheen and Aahil’s mum who shared her knowledge and faith traditions of this important Islamic event. We thank her for her time, effort and courage in sharing with us. From this, our Year 6 leaders then led a discussion all about the similarities and differences between Lent and Ramadan.

If your faith or cultural community is celebrating a special festival or event, please do not hesitate to let me know so we can continue to share our collective knowledge and dialogue together as we join, learn and grow together.

Harmony Day

What a wonderful bright celebration of our beautiful school community as we wore our traditional outfits and the colour orange as we celebrated the vibrant multicultural community we are blessed to have here at St Brigid’s.

Yours in Love, Peace and Learning
