Australia Reads: the Magic of Storytelling

Last Thursday, students gathered to watch a live feed from the Sydney Opera House as Peter Helliar played host to authors - Sally Rippin (Billie B Brown series), Gregg Dreise (My Culture and Me) and Andrew McDonald (Real Pigeons series) as they worked together to create and narrate an imaginative and collaborative story, line by line.  The evolving story was illustrated live by 3 illustrators - Ben Wood (Real Pigeons series), Chris Kennett (School of Monsters series), and Shiloh Gordon (The Underdogs series).  You can watch a recording here https://youtu.be/ewzc-lc8Dw4  

Library Fun

P/1 Amarillo visit

Last Wednesday, students from P/1 Amarillo group had the chance to show off the school library to their parents. For 30 minutes, there was much activity as prams were parked, stories were read, and questions were answered. On Wednesday, March 22, at 3.30 pm P/1 Azul group will have a similar opportunity.

Story Box Library

Story Box Library is a subscription-based educational website, created for children to view stories by local authors and illustrators, being read aloud by fantastic, predominantly Australian and New Zealand, storytellers.

The Newlands Community can access Story Box Library again this year.

Scholastic Book Club
