Principal's Report

Rain Garden

One of the features of our new landscape design was to open the central rainwater drain and create a rain garden.  While the feature is not finished, today we saw firsthand the outcome of the design.  The rain this morning was a great test, and it did not take long before the garden went into action.  We are looking forward to some short-term safety modifications and landscape completion and the long-term growth of the swamp gums as a centerpiece of our deck area.

Warrick King

As the school welcomes a new School Council and a new treasurer, the reality is that we are maybe saying farewell to Warrick King who has been a long term, dependable member of our finance team for so many years.  While treasurer for only three years, Warrick was responsible for the finer/precise financial details for the entire duration of his long School Council tenure.

While I would like to sincerely thank Warrick for his financial work, it is his dedication to community that will be his legacy.  While always being a volunteer for Bunnings barbeques and other school events, it is no secret that Warrick has attached himself to several broader community roles.

Windsor PS is definitely in a better place for having Warrick as part of our team for so long.  In true Warrick fashion, he not only stayed on Council after his children had moved on to secondary school but has also offered to still contribute to Council to help the transition of our new finance team.

Warrick, thank you for everything you have given to WPS from your financial wisdom to your ability to turn a sausage on the barbeque – you are everything we hope for from a parent at WPS.

Governance & Policy

In a follow up to the brief blurb regarding policies in the last newsletter, a reminder that policies are an important part of any organisation regarding governance and direction.  As part of the Department of Education and as a government school, policy is a predominant part of our fabric.

At Windsor, we share the department’s view of the importance of policy.  The school categorises policies into three sections – Accreditation Required, Department Required and Community Required.

All policies relevant to the first two categories are based on templates that either the Victorian Registration and Quality Authority or the Department of Education provide.  This purpose is that there is consistency between all schools (VRQA) and all government schools (DET).

All school policies that are required to have community access are available on the school’s website.

If anyone requires access to a school policy that is not available, please contact the school.  If anyone believes the school should have a policy that is not in place, again, please contact the school and our School Council Community Engagement team will be in touch with you..
