From the Principal

Mr Simon Harvey

An Open Letter to our College Community

Dear Parents, Guardians, Students, Staff and Friends of St Norbert College,

AS this will be my final article as the Principal of St Norbert College, it is with mixed emotions that I write this farewell letter to all of you. This final year marks the 20th year of my direct association with the College either as a student, a staff member and most recently, a very proud College Principal.

I want to express my deepest gratitude to each and every one of you for your support, kindness and understanding throughout my time here. It has been a privilege to work alongside such dedicated and passionate educators, staff members, students and family members, all of whom share a common goal of making a positive impact on our College community and the wider community at large.

I will always cherish the memories and experiences that I have gained during my time here. From working with amazing colleagues to watching our students grow and flourish, every moment has been truly rewarding and fulfilling.

The past six years in particular have been marked with so many highlights that I cannot possibly begin to reminisce but cherished memories that will have a special place in my heart for life.

As I bid farewell, I would like to take this opportunity to encourage everyone to continue striving for excellence and making a difference in the lives of our students and I am confident that this community will continue to thrive and make a positive impact on those privileged enough to be associated with St Norbert College.

I would like to specifically thank Fr Peter Stiglich O.Praem and all of the Norbertines past and present, the College Leadership Team and Advisory Board and all staff, parents and families and so many others who have ardently supported me during this special time.

My message to our beautiful students; you are so fortunate to be members of a wonderful College community. Irrespective of your pathway in life, the opportunities offered at St Norbert College will provide an enormous spring into adult life for you. Embrace all that is around you, those who support you, your parents and the staff of the College and members of the extended community. I wish you my most heartfelt best wishes and hopes that you too like me, achieve that lifetime dream job – this has been the case for me.

As I mentioned in my first Principal’s report for the Norbertus magazine in 2017, I am enormously proud of my time as a student in the late 1980s, as a teacher here through the 2000s and now words fail to adequately define the privilege I feel to have been a Principal of our College. I said it then, that “my heart beats to a different rhythm when I think of St Norbert College” and this is even more the case now.

Thank you St Norbert College, thank you one and all, I wish you all the very best in your future endeavours.

God bless.

Simon Harvey
