Middle School Update

With week seven completed, the Middle School students have a few more weeks before their Progress Reports are sent out to parents/caregivers. This is an opportunity for our teachers to provide some feedback on how students have been engaging in classes and provide some feedback before we will have an opportunity for phone conversations at the start of Term Two.

There have been some wonderful opportunities undertaken by our young people in the last fortnight. Mr Loh and Ms Schultz did a great job preparing our ACC Swim team for Salvado Catholic College's first-ever Carnival. The students reported they had a fun day representing our College which was great to hear.

Recently we had students attend an exclusive International Women's Day event featuring global keynote speaker Sam Bloom. Sam is a two-time World Para Surfing champion, bestselling author and the inspiration behind the hit film Penguin Bloom.

It was a wonderful opportunity for these girls and they represented Salvado Catholic College with distinction and they all spoke very highly of their opportunity.

Other involvements include our PCGs continuing to try and raise money for Caritas by giving money to support people less fortunate than themselves. Some of our PCG Representatives also spoke so very well at the Offical Opening yesterday. There is also the continued efforts of the Year 7 and 9s to try their best in the NAPLAN testing, which will continue on Monday and Tuesday and then catch-up tests throughout the remainder of the week. Students are to attend with a charged iPad and headphones are essent.

We had 32 families that were involved in the most recent Elevate Education FREE Webinars, which is wonderful to hear, with the next free webinar taking place on Wednesday 29th March, focusing on Memory.

Elevate Education works with our students, delivering high-impact workshops on study skills, motivation, wellbeing, and exam preparation. By tuning into their webinar series you will learn how you can help better support your children at home by reinforcing the skills they learn at school:  How to Help Improve Your Child's Memory: CLICK HERE TO REGISTER and choose a Year group. Any Primary school parents can choose Year 7 if they would like to see what's being offered.

Here’s what we’ll be covering on the night:

✅ How memory actually works (and how it has nothing to do with brain capacity)

✅ The most effective environments to assist in memorisation

✅ 3 techniques you can implement overnight to improve revision

An upcoming event for all Year 9 parents is the Camp Information Night occurring on MONDAY 3RD APRIL at 6pm in the Covered Assembly Space. This is a compulsory event for at least one parent/caregiver as there will be very important information provided in preparation for 17th - 19th May.
