Clean Up Australia Day

Last Friday Grade 3/4 students walked down to the Grange Burn to pick up rubbish as part of Clean Up Australia Day. We managed to fill 10 bags with rubbish and recycling. Plastic waste and aluminium cans were the most common types of litter found on the day. Thanks to the Environment Captains Lia and Sam for helping to lead the expedition and to Jason Thomas for volunteering his time.

Garden

Students have been busy sowing vegetable and herb seeds into pots. The aim is to have seedlings ready for end of term planting in the vegie patch and herb garden. Thanks to Jason who donated the seeds and taught the students about the elements plants need to survive and soil health.

Lone Pine Seedling

Next Wednesday (March 15) our school will receive a Lone Pine seedling from the Friends of Gallipoli Inc as part of the 100 Lone Pines Project. This seedling is from the cones of the original Lone Pine on the Gallipoli peninsula. The seedlings represent a symbolic link between Australia and Turkey.

Member for Lowan, Emma Kealy, will be attending as will the local RSL. Parents are also welcome to attend the planting of the seedling. The ceremony will begin at 1.30pm down the front of the school, near the flags.
