Sporting Change!
The Sporting Change Program is a FREE sports program that runs every Tuesday from 3:30 pm - 5:30pm
Students have an awesome time where they can try out soccer, netball basketball, rugby and more, with the sessions being run by local and professional sporting clubs. Some of the clubs we have had come to HPSC so far include Melbourne City Football and Dandenong Rangers. Students also have the opportunity to engage with our fantastic lawyer Talani, Milly from Southeast Monash Legal Service and our amazing in-house Youth Worker Annalisa from the HPSC Wellbeing Team.
Come and join the fun on Tuesday afternoons (food and other activities provided!). Please collect a permission form from A1 or come down to the gym on Tuesdays at 3.30pm and collect a form.
Intermediate Boys Basketball!
We arrived at the stadium and made our way inside to warm-up. The A Team had their first game against the defending champs, Alkira. This was by far our toughest competition of the day. We began the game with a strong attitude scoring the first few points, although Alkira came prepared and managed to end the game with a well-deserved win handing us our first loss of the day. Right after the loss, we went up against a tall, Narre Warren P-12 team and once again we had started with a huge start but fell short in the very last-minute losing by a SINGLE point. This was a tough loss but resulted in the A team being hungry for a win. We went on to play Lyndhurst. They were no match for our teamwork as we achieved our first win. Feeling good, we versed a tough Cranbourne team for our last game but we managed to pull through and get the big win. Finalising a 2-2 day for the A team.
Onto the B Team, straight away, they had a hot start winning their first 3 games against Lyndhurst, Cranbourne, Narre Warren P-12 by a whopping margin. This brought them to their last game against Alkira to determine who goes to the finals. Continuing their hot streak, they were winning but towards the end Alkira found their groove making it a close game. But luckily, the boys pulled through and got the win, sending them to the Grand Final. A rematch was set for Hampton Park and Narre Warren P-12 for the flag. They both played extremely hard with a back-and-forth game. Fortunately, they closed out the inter-school sport basketball tournament with a 17-16 win.
A massive thanks to Mr Cram for coaching both the A and B team, and a massive shout out to the boys for playing a hard-fought competition. Well done!!

Year 10 Basketball Tournament!
In Term 2 and 3, the Year 10’s have demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship in our Year 10 Basketball Tournament!
Monday Week 6 launched the Basketball Tournament for all Year 10’s! We had four Year 10 teams battling it to the Grand Final. We welcomed Michael Ninkama to HPSC who had a fantastic debut. The MVP for Monday went to Josh Chhean and the sportsmanship award went to Llexington Lokeni. Two matches were played on the Monday – Great games by all!
The Thursday semi-finals in Week 8, consisted of two nail biting matches to see who would make it to the grand final. There was only 4 points difference before this knockout final! Thank you to Josh Chhean for stepping up to assist reffing!
The teams making it to the grand finale were;
Caleb, Josh, Andrian, Jacob, Levy, EJ
VS
Blake, Aaron, Michael, Daniel, Niko, Noah, Marcus
The Grand final was EPIC! It was held in the gym with the Year 9 and 10 cohorts supporting from the stands. We had Llexington Lokeni reffing with Mr Cram! Caleb Lawlor was voted our MVP by both staff and students scored a whopping 7 points – including a free, a floater and a jump shot! Shout out to Niko for a layup with an acrobatic finish at the rim. Marcus Balm was another stand out getting a free throw and an add one!
Thank you to all participants, for getting involved, as well as Mr Knowles for organising the tournament. Incredible sportsmanship has been shown by all participants. Can’t wait to see what the next tournament brings!

National Tree Day!
National Tree Day was on Sunday 31st July and to celebrate, HPSC's year 7 students planted their very own trees!
National Tree Day is all about regeneration – whether it’s ecosystems recovering from the vicious bushfires, or our mental and emotional recovery in the wake of COVID-19.
Watch this space to see how our new trees progress!
