Parent ATOSS Survey

It’s that time again when we reach out to around 30% of our parents (randomly), to participate in the Attitude to Schools Parent Survey (ATOSS). Students have completed theirs, staff will do theirs over the next month. What we need is simply honest feedback of things that are going well and things you feel the school needs to develop. ATOSS gives us multiple sources of feedback which as a whole staff we look at and reflect on. If you are contacted to do the survey over the next three weeks please log on and put your thoughts forward as the results are used for school improvement.

Staffing

Edenhope College has posted two Leading Teacher positions that we are hoping to fill for the start of term 4. The first leading teacher position is Teaching and Learning and the second one is Wellbeing and Engagement. We are looking within our current staff and outside of our school to fill the two positions. They will complement the distributive leadership model that is currently being rolled out within the college. The Teaching and Learning position overlooks student curriculum and staff collaboration/development which in turn is centered around improving student outcomes, while the Wellbeing and Engagement position overlooks whole school wellbeing and student engagement. We’re excited to have these roles up and look forward to what the next month brings with applicants and hopefully appointments.

Building/Maintenance  Works

It is fantastic to finally see our stadium ceiling receiving the maintenance work that has been planned for the last four years. Over the last two years it has been impossible to get contractors due to Covid, but a Horsham firm has taken on the works and we expect all ceiling work to be completed by the end of term 3. The ceiling had floating batts which were constantly blown out of position and will be replaced with a reinforced hard ceiling. This will also be in time for a new basketball competition which the local community hopes to have going before the end of the year.

We should have a complete boundary fence by early in term 4. The fence will run from the front fence near the cricket nets all the way up to our vegetable patch past the primary play area.

Transition Programs

We have just had our information sessions for new 2023 prospective Foundation students, last Wednesday with our F-1 teacher Kim Thornton. If parents need any more information please contact the college office.

Later this term on Wednesday the 7th September of we will have the Year 7 Information Evening run by Annabel Hawkins.

Year 10 and 11 students will soon go through a subject selection process as they work their way towards picking the direction they want to head in 2023 and beyond. Parents will be contacted and information sessions held to help through this process as there are some new reforms coming through with the Year 11 and 12 curriculum. The new reforms are based around strengthening student choices in their senior years and are state wide.

Edenhope Playgroup

Edenhope College is pleased to begin a partnership with Edenhope Playgroup. We were approached and were able to accommodate the Friday session, with Playgroup selecting the stadium squash courts as the venue they could furnish with play equipment. It’s a great location and containable for having little kids in a safe environment. The heaters are turned on early Friday – so after a cool 1st session everyone should be comfortable. It didn’t bother the kids who went 100 miles an hour, but we’ll have the temperature up for the ‘bigger kids’😊.

Camps and Excursions

It has been a really exciting time for most students with all camps and excursions back on the go. Last week saw the 7 – 10s off to Lorne with our AP Chad Frost leading the charge on a surf board and next week sees the 4/5/6s head off to Sovereign Hill in Ballarat. The grade 5/6 students who went away on Somers camp over the last week had a fantastic time. Their time was cut short by two days when a power outage meant they had to come home last Monday 15/8 instead of Wednesday.
