At Good News, as part of our pastoral care and social and emotional programs, teachers work with students to create a growth mindset and a range of strategies to assist them in developing positive wellbeing.
We know that over the last few years, the needs of our students in this area have increased. Whether it be issues with friendships, fitting in, use of social media, feeling overwhelmed, or just needing someone to talk to about how they are feeling, some parents I have spoken with are looking for resources to help support their children.
One such resource is the Big Life Journal.
“Big Life Journal offers science-based journals for kids to help them grow their confidence and resilience. We've created growth mindset journals and bundles for different ages, from young children to teens. Our journals feature engaging activities, inspiring stories, and colourful illustrations meant to wire your kids' brains for resilience, gratitude, and self-love.”
This may be a resource that could be helpful for your child to use at home to supplement the learning happening at school.
Attached is some information for parents from the Big Life Journal team about: Ways to help kids cope with Big Changes and Common Ways we Unintentionally Break our Child’s Spirit.
These may give you some things to think about, as you help your child to develop their growth mindset and thrive.
Leon, a Year 5 student, recently competed in the Karate Championships in Queensland where he came first in his division.
Well done, Leon, your hard work and persistence with training have definitely paid off.
Our students enthusiastically supported raising money for the Jump Rope for Heart Foundation last term, while at the same time improving their fitness and skipping skills.
These students received recognition for their fundraising efforts at a recent P – 2 Assembly.
It will not be long now before we are officially able to move into this amazing space. As part of the landscaping, there were some additional large rocks that were not needed on the new site. They quickly found a home in the current Prep playground area. It is good to see our youngest students using their imaginations and gross motor skills to investigate these new additions, as they enjoy their playtime.
